Where we started
Lavish Blade began with a simple frustration: real handmade Damascus was either overpriced or badly made.
You'd find a listing for a "Damascus hunting knife" with beautiful photography and almost no useful information. No steel named. No tang construction mentioned. No honest word about the maintenance a high-carbon blade actually needs. You'd buy it, and find out later.
We set out to break that cycle—genuine hand-forged steel, described properly, at a price that doesn't require a collector's budget.
What we proved on Etsy and eBay
We started where every small maker starts — on the marketplaces.
Our Etsy shop, TheLavishBlade, has taken 289 orders and holds a 4.8-star rating across 85 reviews. Etsy has awarded us Star Seller status, which is earned rather than bought: it requires consistent 5-star reviews, on-time dispatch, and fast responses to customer messages.
We built a second presence on eBay as Lavish Store USA, serving the same customers who prefer buying there.
What customers told us in those reviews shaped what we sell now. They told us the knives felt more substantial in hand than the photographs suggested. They told us the leather sheaths mattered. One review told us a blade had arrived over-oiled — so we changed how we pack.
They also told us, repeatedly, that they wanted to buy directly from us.
Why we built our own store
Marketplaces are a good place to start and a hard place to grow.
On Etsy and eBay, we couldn't tell you which steel was in a blade without the listing template fighting us. We couldn't publish a proper care guide. We couldn't explain the difference between our hand-forged working blades and our display pieces within the available space. We couldn't build a relationship past the transaction.

Who actually makes our blades
Our Damascus and fixed-blade work is forged, ground, and finished by hand by our smiths in Wazirabad, Pakistan.
Most sellers in our price bracket won't tell you where their blades come from. We will, because it's the most interesting thing about them. Wazirabad has been a blade-making city for generations, and it's one of the few places on earth where pattern-welding is still ordinary daily craft rather than a revival practised by a handful of specialists.
Most of our Damascus is forged from 1095 and 15N20 — a high-carbon steel paired with a nickel-bearing steel, folded and forge-welded so the two etch to different tones. The pattern runs all the way through the blade. Grind it down and it's still there, because it is the steel, not a finish applied to the surface.
Which means no two are identical. Same model, same steel, same construction — but the pattern on your blade exists on no other blade in the world.
What we offer
Hunting and bushcraft knives — full-tang fixed blades from 7 to 10 inches with leather sheaths. Skinners with deep bellies for game prep, drop points for camp work, scout-carry patterns with horizontal sheaths. Olive wood, rosewood, stabilised resin, bone, horn, and micarta handles. Our largest category.
Chef knives and kitchen sets — Damascus chef knives from 12 to 13.5 inches overall, santokus with Granton edges, ulu knives, and two- and three-piece sets in velvet or wooden gift boxes. Our most-gifted range by a wide margin.
Everyday carry folders — lockback and liner-lock knives from compact 6.5-inch pockets up to 7-inch Damascus models with brass bolsters.
Personalised and engraved knives — a significant part of our folder range can be laser engraved on one or both sides with your text. These are our most-given groomsman, anniversary, and retirement gifts.
Karambits — the curved finger-ring pattern from 8 to 10 inches with tooled leather sheaths. A genuinely useful working geometry that most retailers treat as a costume item.
Daggers and athames — double-edged fixed blades from 8 to 12 inches, many with deep central fullers and hand-poured resin handles.
Swords and collector pieces — historical replicas from 22 to 44 inches: Viking, Templar, Celtic, Scottish claymore, Revolutionary War, alongside fantasy and cosplay blades.
On the display range, plainly: some of our swords are hand-forged working blades. Others are display and cosplay pieces, finished rather than forged, and shipped unsharpened. Every product page says which. We'd rather tell you before you buy than after.
How your order reaches you
Most sellers in this category drop-ship straight from overseas and leave you tracking a package through three countries for a month.
We don't. We import finished stock into our own fulfillment center in New Caney, Texas. When you order an in-stock piece it ships domestically — usually in your hands inside a week.
That's also why inventory on individual pieces is often in single digits, and why sold-out items don't always come back. We buy what our smiths make, in the quantities they make it.
How we deal with customers
We name the steel. Every product page states the steel, the tang construction, and the dimensions in inches.
We tell you the inconvenient parts. High-carbon Damascus will rust if you leave it wet — so we say so, on the page, before you buy. We tell you which swords are decorative. Losing a sale to a true sentence is cheaper than a return and a one-star review.

You must be 18 or older to buy from Lavish Blade. Age is verified at checkout, and an adult signature is required on delivery.
US knife law is set at the state and often municipal level and varies considerably — blade length limits, opening mechanisms, and specific patterns all differ between states and sometimes between cities. Certain items can't be shipped to certain addresses. It's the buyer's responsibility to know the law where they live. If we can't lawfully ship to your address, we'll cancel and refund.
