Damascus steel is high-carbon and can spot or patina if left wet. Keep the blade clean, dry, and lightly oiled. Hand-wash and dry kitchen knives immediately after use — never leave them soaking or run them through a dishwasher.

It’s an absolutely beautiful knife however I was unaware of the aftercare required. I also wasn’t expecting it to be completely covered in oil when it arrived- I had to use gloves and paper towels to fully unpack it. I didn’t plan on using this knife regularly, just for special occasions and was warned against keeping it sheathed long-term unless I oil it once a month. I just wish I had known all this before buying it.

Beautiful blade! As an athame I don't plan to cut anything with this, but if you wanted to it's plenty sharp enough to do so. The genuine leather sheath is gorgeous as well. I'm so excited to use this
